  Optimal Job posting Timing

There's a good time and a bad time in posting jobs. Depending on when you do post your job it could affect the performance of your job ad, whether or not you will receive viewers to your job could depend on these factors explained here.

When we first started this website we noticed there were peaks and valleys of when people came to our website. At first we thought these must be coincidences, but over time we've noticed that there are definitely several trends at play in the background and they are as follows:

1) Tuesday & Wednesdays are when people look at job boards the most during the week. If you post first thing Tuesday morning, or better yet monday afternoon, you are more likely to get immediate results than posting on any other day. We don't know why, but after analyzing our own job board and a few other job boards, this seems to be consistently true.

2) Jobseekers employed or unemployed take holidays too. This might sound stupid, but I know when I was unemployed I don't take holidays, I would still be looking for a job. Afterall, when you have no job, everyday is a holiday. Turns out, I was an exception, most people even if they're unemployed will take the holiday and will not be looking at job boards. Avoid posting a job close to long weekends or holidays because these jobs won't be looked at until the next week back, and these older jobs are less likely to be viewed by jobseekers due to its age.

3) Jobseekers make a comeback after the holidays. There appears to be a renewed sense of energy in jobseekers, if a job was posted the first business day after a long weekend or holidays it is more likely to receive a spike of traffic. So in conjunction with point 2) - you should avoid the week following up to a long weekend and post the 1st business day back. Don't forget rule 1) though.

4) Nobody looks at jobs on Friday or Saturday. None. Nobody. That's right, surprisingly Friday is a day lost as well. However, the next point might explain more...

5) The week starts on Sunday, not Monday, for jobseekers. People are actually starting to look at jobs starting on Sunday night, not Monday morning contrary to popular belief.

So now that you know the above, Sunday is actually a great time to post jobs because it gives your job an extra day in the week competing against other job ads. If a competitor posts their job on Monday then they will get Monday-Thursday, which is 4 days of exposure in that first week. Posting Sunday will give you 5 days of exposure in that first week. Keep in mind, that first week is the most important week because your job would be a new job and not perceived as a staledated job. Keep in mind point 2) and 3) then you should be fine.
